About the Race for Grace

The Race for Grace was founded in March 2009 by Aubree Tsurusaki & Karen Tsurusaki. It was made in honor of Grace Nelson due to her diagnosis to Rhybdomyosarcoma (a rare soft tissue cancer) in January 2009. It is a fundraising event in which all proceeds and donations are given to the Rein in Sarcoma Foundation for research on Sarcoma cancers. At the event, there is a 1 Mile walk/run and a 5K walk/run.

Organizers

The Race for Grace is organized by Aubree Tsurusaki with help from her mom, Karen Tsurusaki! Aubree is also the creator and editor of the "Race For Grace" website. When her friend Grace Nelson was diagnosed with cancer in January 2009, Aubree and Karen wanted to do something special for Grace to spread awareness and help find a cure for Sarcoma cancers.

They decided to organize a race in Grace's honor in which all donations and proceeds are sent to the Rein in Sarcoma Foundation in order to help find a cure for sarcoma cancers and assist all of those fighting a Sarcoma cancer. Aubree and Karen hope that the Race for Grace will make a big difference and touch many people's live.

The second annual Race for Grace was held on Saturday, August 7th in Johnny Cake Walker Park Park East in Apple Valley. The rain that fell did nothing to dampen the spirit of the hundreds of racers who turned out for the 1k and 5k walk run. At least $25,000 was raised from this year's Race!
